A shocking incident inside a sleeper bus in New Delhi has raised fresh concerns about women’s safety in the capital city.

Police said the incident took place on the night of May 11 in the Saraswati Vihar–Rani Bagh area. The woman was returning home from work when she approached a sleeper bus near the B-Block bus stand.

According to investigators, the bus driver and conductor allegedly assaulted the woman inside the vehicle. Police arrested both suspects soon after receiving the complaint.

Delhi Police registered an FIR on May 12 under Sections 64(1) (rape), 70(1) (gang rape), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
