APNA CHANDRAYAAN – SCHOLARLY WEB PORTAL ON CHANDRAYAAN-3 OPENED
For schoolchildren participating in Mission Chandrayaan-3, NCERT, along with the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL) of the Ministry of Education, has created the web portal “Apna Chandrayaan,” which features activity-based support materials like puzzles and quizzes. Yesterday in New Delhi, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, inaugurated the “Apna Chandrayaan” web portal. Dr. Sreedhara Panicker Somanath, the Secretary of the Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO, was the honoured guest of honour at the function.
The website features colouring books, picture builders, jigsaw puzzles, online tests, and motivational tales in the form of graphic novels about Chandrayaan 3. Colouring pages, dot-to-dot exercises, colour coding with instructions, and other activities have been produced for the Foundational and Preparatory levels to help pupils enhance their observation and awareness skills.
For the Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary levels, there will be interactive online tests with explanations for answers. All participants who score higher than 70% will receive digital certificates, and the first 1000 winners will get age-appropriate literature. For the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary levels, Jigsaw puzzles and picture builders have also been created. Inspiring tales in the form of graphic books that illustrate the occasions that influenced ISRO’s progress up to Chandrayaan 3 will also be available.
Furthermore, ten exclusive courses were made available in several languages to all parties involved in the success of Chandrayaan 3, with the aim of inspiring Indian youth to pursue greater opportunities in the fields of science and technology. These lessons provide a thorough review of all of its dimensions, including the scientific, technological, and social aspects as well as the scientists’ emotional journey and sense of teamwork. All five stages and Classes I–XII of schooling are covered in this dynamic and captivating curriculum, which is enhanced with visuals, photos, illustrations, exercises, tough questions, and more.
These modules, which include stories, cases, quiz questions, and activities, have been thoughtfully created with consideration for the themes’ applicability at various stages. The goal is to inspire students to learn at their own pace and to support teachers in guiding their students through the recommended pedagogy of experiential learning. The modules will also be accessible on the NCERT website in digital format.
The journey of Chandrayaan 3 embodies the virtues that education at all levels aims to instill and achieve: grit, gumption, scientific temper, curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity. Through initiatives inspired by Chandrayaan 3, NCERT hopes to encourage science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics in the current generation of Indian schoolchildren. The goal of these exercises is to give students the tools necessary to foster creativity and critical thinking. In the future, a plethora of more creative activities are planned for the students.
