The second edition of the Chennai International Book Fair with a focus on translation funds and international participation has been announced by the Tamil Nadu Minister of Education.
On January 16, 17, and 18, 2024, the Chennai International Book Fair (CIBF) will hold its second edition at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam.
The statement was made here on Wednesday by the state’s minister of education, Anbil Mahes Poyyamozhi. On January 16, 17, and 18, 2024, the Chennai International Book Fair (CIBF) will hold its second edition at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam. The first iteration of the event was held in Nandanam earlier this year.
He stated, “The Tamil Nadu government would allocate a sum of 3 crores as a Translation fund with particular rules for non-Tamil publishers who can utilize the fund to translate Tamil works into their languages.
According to him, 365 memoranda of understanding were signed last year between Tamil publishers and their counterparts in other states and countries by publishers from 24 different countries. He predicted that this year’s level of global involvement will increase significantly.
As a result of Malaysia’s close ties to Tamil Nadu, the Tamil language, and Tamil literature, he declared that Malaysia would be the CIBF’s guest of honour country.
