Shakespeare’s Birth Anniversary Celebrated at Dravidian University in Kuppam
Dravidian University signs an MoU with Government First Grade College in Bangaru Tirupathi, Karnataka, to enhance academic cooperation and promote Dravidian studies during the celebrations.
The Department of English at Dravidian University, Kuppam, marked the 461st birth anniversary of renowned English playwright and poet William Shakespeare with a full day of literary events on Wednesday.
The celebrations witnessed participation from university students, along with attendees from other Dravidian universities located in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
The day’s proceedings began with floral tributes to Shakespeare’s portrait, setting a reverent tone for the events.
An audio-visual presentation on Shakespeare’s life and literary legacy followed the tribute.
A series of competitions showcased students’ active interest and engagement with Shakespearean works.
A key highlight of the occasion was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dravidian University and Government First Grade College in Bangaru Tirupathi, situated in Karnataka’s Kolar district.
This MoU is aimed at fostering academic partnerships and advancing the objectives of Dravidian studies.
Ch.A. Rajendra Prasad, Head of the Department of English, shared that the event was organized with the assistance of research scholars from the department.
He emphasized that honoring Shakespeare’s enduring legacy plays a crucial role in motivating students and enriching the field of English literature.
Vice-Chancellor M. Doraswamy lauded the department for its innovative planning and its success in sparking literary enthusiasm among students.
Senior university officials, faculty members, and students participated in the celebrations.
The event concluded with a campus tour arranged for the visiting students.
