Penguin Random House Unveils The Penguin Nehru Library
The Penguin Nehru Library, a definitive collection honoring the life, career, and ideas of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister, was launched today by Penguin Random House India. This collection includes his most important writings, including letters, essays, and articles, and is a priceless tool for readers and academics.
Nehru was a visionary leader who was crucial in India’s fight for independence. His legacy represents civil liberties, institutional growth, and democratic principles. Even sixty years after his passing, his writings on democracy, secularism, international politics, and social justice continue to influence discussions on social progress and nation-building.
According to Penguin Random House, Nehru’s intellectual legacy has been honored through a highly sensitive curating process. Among the highlights are the five-volume Letters to Chief Ministers, which offer an insight into Nehru’s role in shaping India’s political and social landscape.

“Nehru’s writings show his brilliance as a politician, statesman, and thinker. His understanding of India’s civilizational heritage is extraordinary. With this collection, we hope to engage readers in exploring his ideas that define the essence of modern India.”
Publisher of the Adult Publishing Division at Penguin Random House India, Milee Ashwarya said:
Nehru was a distinguished leader and thinker whose contributions laid the foundation for India’s modern institutions and democratic ethos. The Penguin Nehru Library celebrates his legacy, making his writings accessible to inspire future generations.”
The purpose of the Nehru Library is to shed light on Nehru’s ideas and how they have influenced India’s path toward democracy. The preservation of some of Nehru’s most important writings will contribute to his concepts continuing to stimulate worldwide dialogue on social fairness and progress.
With this historic project, Penguin Random House reaffirmed its commitment to conserving India’s literary and intellectual legacy.
