Devangana Dash from Delhi wins the 10th Oxford Bookstore Book Cover Prize
Devangana Dash, a talented book designer, art director, and educator, has won the 10th Oxford Bookstore Book Cover Prize for her stunning cover design of “Conversations with Aurangzeb” (published by Perennial, HarperCollins). The book, written by Charu Nivedita and translated from Tamil by Nivedini Krishnan, caught the jury’s attention with its eye-catching design.
The award ceremony, held on April 4 at the India Habitat Centre, recognized Dash’s achievement with a cash prize of ₹1 lakh. The esteemed panel of judges included Alka Pande, Shashi Tharoor, May-Elin Stener, Anja Riedeberger, Samar Jodha, and Swagat Sengupta.
Dash expressed her gratitude and excitement, highlighting the importance of book design and literary processes in a visually driven world. She emphasized the value of initiatives like the Oxford Bookstore Book Cover Prize, which celebrates the art of bookmaking and brings attention to the design process.
Two other designers received special recognition for their outstanding work: Samar Bansal for “Feathers, Fools and Farts” (Puffin, Penguin Random House) and Sharanya Kunnath for “Epicurious” (Hachette India Children’s Books).
The event also announced the longlist for the third Oxford Bookstore Art Book Prize, which honors art publications across various genres.
