An Interview with Prayagi Kailash

Akhila Saroha: I would like to begin by congratulating you on the publication of “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan.” How has the response to the book been so far?

Prayagi Kailash: Response is excellent from friends, relatives & others.

Akhila Saroha: What led to the idea of writing “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan”? Were there any events that inspired the work?
Prayagi Kailash: Yes, I am also inspired by small village people and their honesty and hard work. I also have a special respect for women.

Akhila Saroha: How easy or difficult was it for you to write on a subject that held relevance for all and also remain objective about them in your story “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan”?
Prayagi Kailash: It was easy for me, as per my experience and seeing different faces of my life also.

Akhila Saroha: What are your views about present-day writing? Do you think it does complete justice in depicting human nature in the light of “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan”?
Prayagi Kailash: Yes, we can write what we expect from our family members. And also, your honesty and faith in a higher power can change your life at any time.

Akhila Saroha: “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan” shows the uniqueness of your style of writing. Are there any authors that you enjoy reading or any books which are your favorites?
Prayagi Kailash: I write the language I feel and actually talk; I have occasionally read Munshi Premchand ji and some other writer’s book.

Akhila Saroha: How would you categorize “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan” as its appeal seems to be to a broad audience?
Prayagi Kailash: It can happen in anybody’s life, but if you are sincere and disciplined in life, your life will finally come to peace at the end. Despite any hurdles with the grace of higher power.

Akhila Saroha: “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan” has given a powerful introduction to your potential as a writer. Can the readers expect more from you in the future? Please share about your future projects.
Prayagi Kailash: Yes, I thank readers even if they read my book and enjoyed it. I may write a much more exciting fiction book in the next one, 6 to 12 months.

Akhila Saroha: What is the story behind your work title, “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan”?
Prayagi Kailash: I am from a small village of Uttarakhand and always keen to write around my main character being started journey from small town and town. Neelima is one of such small village Girl.

Akhila Saroha: How easy or difficult was it for you to create the characters and show the story from their eyes and also the eyes of a third-person narrator without hampering the readers’ perception in “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan”?
Prayagi Kailash: Some time the character comes spontaneously, you just have to connect them with story.

Akhila Saroha: In the present time, poems featuring people like your situations in “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan” do not find much mention. What, according to you, could be the possible reason for that?
Prayagi Kailash: People these days became career-oriented and unable to follow passion and think in other direction. Even if someone read your book and say they enjoyed it and spent 2 hrs reading a book, it gives immense satisfaction to a new writer like me.

Akhila Saroha: If you were to describe your book “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan” in a few words without giving any spoilers, what would those words be?
Prayagi Kailash: It’s a book blend of old and new generation, with woman empowerment and living a socially respected and dignified way.

Akhila Saroha: What advice would you give to budding writers who may be planning to write in the same genre as “Neelima ne Chuaa Aasmaan”?
Prayagi Kalash: Just think of writing something and see how life moves around you and society. And what you want to see there and what you have done in that situation just write and finish.
