Sutapa Sikdar discusses her intentions to write a book on her experiences travelling with Irrfan Khan. I want it to be humorous.
One of the best actors in Hindi film was Irrfan Khan, who always left everyone in awe of his acting prowess. The outstanding actor passed away in April 2020 after a protracted two-year struggle with neuroendocrine cancer. But the actor’s absence from the industry is felt every single day. The actor’s journey is still remembered through his work by filmmakers, actors, and fans. Sutapa Sikdar, the actor’s wife, has indicated interest in penning a book on their journey together.
Sutapa Sikdar describes her journey with Irrfan Khan in her writing.
Sutapa Sikdar revealed on Saturday that she wants to write a book in which she shows readers the humorous side of the late actor. She was there at the occasion for the publication of Irrfan: A Life in Movies. A well-known film critic and novelist wrote the book, which follows Irrfan’s career from his time at the National School of Drama to his foray into television and the film industry. When discussing her personal intentions to write a book, Sutapa revealed: , “I want it to be a funny journey that I shared with him. People take him as a very serious and intimidating of person, but he was not so in real life. The book is not ready at all, but it will be in some time.”
Works of Irrfan Khan
The Song of Scorpions, Irrfan Khan’s final Hindi movie, came out in theatres in April of this year. The late actor had struggled for years until finally breaking through with a modest role in Mira Nair’s play Salaam Bombay! in 1988. The National Award-winning actor served as the public face of new-wave Hindi cinema, which featured big-budget films like The Lunchbox, The Namesake, Life…in a Metro, Maqbool, Paan Singh Tomar, and Haasil. Additionally, he contributed to foreign blockbusters including Life of Pi and Slumdog Millionaire. In the movie Angrezi Medium, which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Madan, and Deepak Dobriyal, Irrfan last appeared.
