Delhi Police Bust Major Book Piracy Racket, Seize Over 20,000 Counterfeit Copies in Rohini Raid
In a major crackdown, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police seized more than 20,000 pirated books in Rohini, officials said. The operation lasted nearly 24 hours and targeted several warehouses and an illegal printing press.
Police carried out the raid with support from publishers such as Penguin Random House India, Simon & Schuster India, and Hay House India. They arrested one accused, who is a repeat offender. Officials also sealed the illegal printing unit.
Early findings show that an organised group ran the operation. The network printed, stored, and distributed fake books across the market.
The seized books included pirated copies of popular titles by well-known authors. This points to the large scale of the racket.
Officials called the raid one of the biggest recent actions against book piracy in Delhi.
