Haryana Has Added the Bhagavad Gita and Saints to the Curriculum
Curriculum Revised in Haryana: Value education curriculum is now required to be read by all students above sixth grade in government schools in Haryana. According to latest updates, the Bhagavad Gita, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, APJ Abdul Kalam Azad, Buddha, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Sarojini Naidu, and Eklavya will all be taught life lessons to the children.
Value addition classes used to be optional, making it simple for students to avoid them. Students must now read the updated text in order to be able to respond to 10-mark questions, and they are no longer allowed to disregard the “Adarash Jewan Mulye” books published by the state education department. In addition,
Haryana Curriculum Revises as per NEP 2020, NCFSE
The State Council of Educational Research and Training, SCERT director, headed a seven-member committee that the Haryana government first established to restructure value education in line with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) and National Education Policy (NEP).
An official working on new books said, “The committee decided to include verses from the Bhagavadgita for their inspirational value in building moral character. The sacred text can teach us fearlessness, simplicity, discipline, etiquette, dedication, focus, hard work, respect for nature, and the keys to success.”
Shivaji, Buddha, Sister Nivedita (an Irish teacher and disciple of Swami Vivekananda), Ekalavya (from the Mahabharata), and Maitreyi (an Indian philosopher from the later Vedic era in ancient India, mentioned in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad as the wife of the Vedic sage Yajnavalkya) are among the stories featured in the book for classes 9 and 10.
