10 year old becomes Amazon bestseller with Reptile Genre
A 10-year-old from Hull has become an Amazon best-seller after releasing his very first children’s book.
Zach Richardson’s title, Zach’s Reptile Alphabet: Reptile Facts and Fun Rhymes, came out on 8 August and quickly rose to the top spot in three different Amazon categories reptiles, reptiles and amphibians, and amphibians.
The book takes readers through the alphabet with different reptiles, pairing Zach’s own rhymes with his colorful illustrations and fascinating facts. One example includes “K is for Komodo Dragon,” complete with drawings and a fact file.
Zach has been passionate about art from a young age, encouraged by his family’s love of animals his father runs a pet shop, and his mother, Lucy, is also an author. After getting his pet crested gecko, Kirk, last year, Zach became even more fascinated with reptiles and began researching lizards, snakes, turtles, and crocodiles.
“I’ve always loved reptiles. A lot of people think they’re scary, but they’re really amazing creatures.” He explained.
His mum said she has been “blown away” by his artistic ability since he first picked up a pencil at the age of four. She praised his determination, noting that he kept improving his work until it was ready to be published.
Now that his first book has taken off, Zach already has more ideas lined up. He plans to continue with the animal theme, with his next project focusing on geckos
