With 2,500 books, the Bilaspur District opens its first digital library.

Today, CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu opened the first digital library in Himachal Pradesh, which has about 2,500 books. Classes I through XII students can access NCERT and CBSE texts offline through the library. The e-library can accommodate up to 40 people with the appropriate amenities.

Sukhu mentioned that readers would find college course materials, competitive exam resources, and various educational texts in the library. “The library allows free access to reading materials via touchscreen devices, servers, and social media platforms. It uses RFID technology to implement a smart management system that benefits users by streamlining library operations. To improve user experience, every reader will be given an ID card that needs to be scanned for entry into the library,” he stated.

The district library has a large reading room, an e-library, computer tablets, suitable furniture, and other essential student amenities. It is also watched over by a network of CCTV cameras.

At the digital library, Sukhu spoke to pupils and underlined his government’s commitment to enhancing civic facilities and incorporating digital technologies. According to the students, these improvements greatly improved their educational experiences and increased the effectiveness and enjoyment of study time.

Additionally, the Chief Minister unveiled a brand-new Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau building that cost Rs 1.67 crore to build. The event was attended by former MLAs Bumber Thakur and Tilak Raj, HPTDC Chairman RS Bali, former Minister Ram Lal Thakur, and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani.
