Questionnaires:
I would like to begin by congratulating you on the publication of “A Beautiful Heart.” How has the response to the book been so far?
Arun Warikoo: Thank You Akhila. I am truly humbled with the response that I am getting both in India and the United States.
What led to the idea of writing “A Beautiful Heart”? Were there any events that inspired the work?
Arun Warikoo: Well, I have been writing poetry since the last 4-5 years. I had this thought last year to compile some of my poems in the form of a book.
Your debut work, “A Beautiful Heart,” appeared much later than when you wrote your first poem, “Shiva,” in 2016. Are there any reasons for that?
Arun Warikoo: Professionally, I work in the field of Cyber Security. Writing is a hobby of mine and I took my sweet time in writing all these forty-five poems since writing “Shiva” lol.
Are there any authors that you enjoy reading or any books which are your favorites?
Arun Warikoo: “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand is my all time favorite. I love novels by Agatha Christie and the works of Khalil Gibran.
Do you think calling “A Beautiful Heart” a work that holds meaning for everyone would be right?
Arun Warikoo: Yes. I truly believe that “A Beautiful Heart” is a work for all age groups.
“A Beautiful Heart” has given a powerful introduction to your potential as a writer. Can the readers expect more from you in the future?
Arun Warikoo: Thank you Akhila. I do have an anthology in mind that I plan to start working on in the near future.
The title, “A Beautiful Heart” sounds quite intriguing on first reading. What is the story behind the making of it?
Arun Warikoo: These poems have come straight from the heart and appeal to inner beauty, hence the name.
Do you think “A Beautiful Heart” can be restricted to any particular genre? Or can it be categorized under more than one genre?
Arun Warikoo: I do not think that it can be restricted to any one genre.
If you were to describe “A Beautiful Heart” in a few words without giving any spoilers, what would those words be?
Arun Warikoo: A must read if you want to connect with your inner self.
You have mentioned in “A Beautiful Heart,” that you have written poems in other languages too. Please share a little about them.
Arun Warikoo: I have also written in Hindi/Urdu. A few lines from “Deedar-e-karam:
Mujhe Intazaar hai tere aamad ka
Dil bekaraar hai tere deedaar ka
Dil-e-muztar tumhe pukar raha hai
Ek parwane ki tarah jala ja raha hai
Thank you very much for sparing your time. I look forward to reading more books from you in the future. All the best.
