Release of Michael Caine’s Debut Thriller
He will soon start writing novels, and his name is Michael Caine.
The 90-year-old actor’s first thriller, Deadly Game, will be released later this year, according to the Guardian. The book will be published by Hodder & Stoughton in the United Kingdom; according to the book’s Amazon page, Mobius, the old Quercus press, will be responsible for its release in the United States.
The story will centre on English police officer Harry Taylor, who is looking for the person who stole a crate of radioactive material from a landfill. Taylor and his associates focus their investigation on two suspects: an oligarch and an art dealer.
According to the book’s description on Amazon, it is “a compelling, fast-paced novel of international intrigue and twisting suspense from a legendary actor and British icon, who now proves himself to be a first-rate thriller writer.”
One of the most recognisable actors in the UK is Caine. He earned Academy Awards for his performances in Hannah and Her Sisters and The Cider House Rules, and is well-known for his parts in Alfie, Get Carter, and The Man Who Would Be King.
Blowing the Bloody Doors Off: And Other Lessons in Life, The Elephant to Hollywood, and What It’s All About? are his three memoirs.
When Caine was interviewed by Xan Brooks for The Guardian in 2021, the actor confessed, “Oh, I read books like wildfire. American author Tom Clancy is one of them. My favourite is him. He did everything and anything. I’m a man of adventure. I’m not a literary person. I only engage in pleasant activities. Gangs, weapons, and warfare are examples of this.
The release dates for Deadly Game are Nov. 23 in the UK and Dec. 5 in the US.
