Mughal empire parts are deleted from the Class 12 history book, and other chapters are revised.
The chapters titled ‘Kings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)’ have been removed from the book.
Recently, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) updated its texts and curricula, which will have an impact on schools all over the nation. The chapters pertaining to the Mughal kingdom will no longer be included in the “Themes of Indian History-Part 2” history textbook for 12th grade.
The book no longer contains the chapters headed “Kings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries).” Other textbooks have also experienced changes besides this one. Several songs and passages from the Hindi textbooks have also undergone revision by NCERT.
The modifications made by NCERT will be put into effect beginning with the current school year, or 2023–2024. The 12th-grade Civics manual has been updated, along with the History and Hindi texts. The book no longer contains the two chapters headed “The Cold War Era” and “American Hegemony in World Politics.” The textbook for Class 12th, “Indian Politics after Independence,” has also had two parts removed.
Additionally, the texts for classes 10 and 11 have undergone changes. In the class 10th volume “Democratic Politics-2,” the chapters “Democracy and Diversity,” “Popular Struggles and Movements,” and “Challenges of Democracy” have been deleted. In the “Themes in World History” guidebook for Class 11, chapters like “Central Islamic Lands,” “Clash of Cultures,” and “Industrial Revolution” have been removed.
The new curriculum and textbooks, which have been updated for this year and are being used in many schools, have been verified by senior officials.
