New Delhi World Book Fair 2025: Celebrating 75 Years of India as a Republic

The New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2025 is set to take place from February 1 to 9 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This year’s theme, “Republic@75,” marks India’s 75-year journey as a republic, showcasing its progress in governance, equality, and freedom since 1950.

A Global Platform for Books and Literature

Organized annually by the National Book Trust (NBT), India, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, NDWBF has grown into a major literary event on the global stage. The 2025 edition will feature books in over 100 languages, offering readers a diverse and rich literary experience. As one of the fastest-growing book markets, India continues to attract major publishing houses worldwide.

Festival of Festivals: A Stage for Literary Discourse

Building on the success of the “Festival of Festivals” initiative launched in 2024, this year’s edition will host over 100 interactive sessions. These discussions will feature esteemed authors, scholars, and industry leaders engaging in conversations on contemporary poetry, history, artificial intelligence, and literature’s evolving role in society.

Republic@75 Dialogues: Reflecting on India’s Ideals

The Republic@75 Dialogues will delve into India’s republican framework, emphasizing values such as equality, social justice, and fundamental rights, including freedom of speech and expression. These discussions will highlight the nation’s constitutional vision and its journey toward progress.

A Hub for Publishing Industry Leaders

With over 2 million visitors, NDWBF is among the world’s most attended book fairs. Its B2B zone has gained prominence as a hub for rights exchanges, connecting publishing companies globally. This year’s fair will feature over 300 scheduled meetings with participants from North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Additionally, the Publishing Leadership Forum, “CEO Speak,” will host top executives from publishing, education, culture, and trade sectors on February 2 at The Ashok Hotel.

New Attractions in NDWBF 2025

For the first time, NDWBF 2025 will introduce:

  • Screenings of curated children’s films, providing an immersive storytelling experience for young readers.
  • A Digital Experience Zone, where digital publishing partners will showcase the latest advancements in publishing technology and innovation.

A Legacy of Literary Celebration

According to Shri Yuvraj Malik, Director of the National Book Trust, India, “The New Delhi World Book Fair has evolved over the past 52 years into one of the largest celebrations of books and reading culture in the world. It honors not only books but also all forms of creative expression, including stories, drama, films, and ideas.”

The fair’s slogan, “Hum Bharat ke log” (“We, the People of India…”), drawn from the opening line of the Preamble to the Constitution, encapsulates the collective aspirations of the nation and its literary heritage.
