Author Story Article – Reshel Bretny Fernandes: Award-Winning Young Indian Author and Thought Leader Shaping Bharat @2047
Reshel Bretny Fernandes embodies the kind of intellectual velocity and purpose-driven ambition that defines a new generation of Indian thought leaders. Born on 30 October 2002 in Surathkal, Mangalore, to educator-parents Ronald and Nancy, she grew up in an environment where learning was not merely encouraged — it was a way of life. What began as a natural curiosity soon evolved into a multi-disciplinary pursuit that positioned her as one of the most dynamic young voices in India’s contemporary literary and academic landscape. With over 150 achievements in the literary field, multiple books to her credit, and recognitions at international, national, and state levels, Reshel has carved a trajectory marked by discipline, intellectual rigour, and a compelling commitment to nation-building!
Her academic journey reflects the same consistency and depth that define her writing. A former student of DPS MRPL Mangalore, she went on to secure State 7th Rank and District First Rank in the Arts stream during her P.U. education at Ladyhill Victoria PU College. She expanded her academic footprint by completing a B.A. in Hindi from Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha and a B.A. in History, Economics, and Political Science from Sri Mahaveera College, Moodbidri — where she secured the 2nd rank in Mangalore University. Her intellectual appetite does not stop at conventional disciplines; she has pursued certificate courses in disaster management, human resource management, and public health management, while also nurturing a strong inclination toward public administration. Currently pursuing LL.B. at S.D.M. Law College, Mangalore, Reshel continues to position herself at the intersection of governance, policy, and public discourse.

Parallel to her academic accomplishments, Reshel has established herself as a prolific writer, thinker, researcher, and orator. With 10 research articles published in national and international journals, she has demonstrated the analytical acumen and academic maturity uncommon for someone her age. Her engagement with society extends far beyond academics — she is an active volunteer with Disha Bharat and Samartha Bharata, two organisations that align deeply with her vision for youth empowerment and nation-building. Her participation in numerous national-level webinars and youth parliaments showcases both her commitment to civic dialogue and her growing influence as a young public intellectual.
Her literary portfolio is equally compelling. In 2024, she published ‘Essays On Collective Topics’ with Taneesha Publications — a book that gained swift recognition for its clarity, relevance, and thoughtful analysis. Essays on national development, India’s freedom movement, youth leadership, and Swami Vivekananda’s ideals reflect her deep-rooted conviction that young minds have a decisive role in shaping India’s future. In August 2024, she authored the groundbreaking title, ‘BHARAT @2047: Role Of Youth’ becoming the first young author to write comprehensively on the subject. The book garnered significant acclaim, earning her the Author of New Era Award, the prestigious Rabindranath Tagore Book Award, and wide appreciation from both literary and governmental spheres.
Reshel’s work has earned her some of the most prestigious recognitions in the country. She is the recipient of the Rabindranath Tagore Literature Award, Bharatiya Sahitya Samman 2024, Indian Icon Award, Pride of India Award and the International Kalam Award for literary excellence. Her outstanding contributions have also been acknowledged with the Kittur Rani Chennamma Award from the Government of Karnataka, the National Icon Award at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya in New Delhi, the J Maurus Award by the Indian Catholic Press Association, and the Veer Savarkar National Award, among several others. She has been featured prominently in national magazines such as Empowered Pen, Author of New Era Magazine and Authors of India, which have chronicled her unique blend of vision, intellect and achievement.
What distinguishes Reshel further is her remarkable ability to translate her ideas into real-world engagement. She is known for presenting her books to some prominent dignitaries, including Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Shobha Karandlaje, Kiran Rijiju, Bhupendra Yadav and others — earning praise and recognition from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Office of the Speaker and even the President of India. Her books, ‘Light of Education Brightens World’ and ‘Environment: Bond of Coexistence’ have also received notable acclaim. With her recent work, ‘Surajya’ she has contributed significantly to the discourse on good governance, further reinforcing her role as a young thought leader shaping India’s vision for inclusive development.
Across her speeches, writings, and public engagements, Reshel Bretny Fernandes stands out as a voice of clarity, conviction, and progressive thinking. Whether she is authoring a book, presenting scholarly work, engaging in policy-oriented dialogue, or inspiring young minds, she does so with the steady confidence of someone who understands the responsibility that comes with talent. Her journey is already extraordinary and yet, the most compelling part of her story is that she is just getting started. With intellectual depth, national recognition, and an unwavering commitment to India’s future, Reshel is well on her way to becoming one of the most influential young authors and thinkers of her generation!
