Hay House is Acquired by Penguin Random House
Hay House, a self-help and health and wellness publisher started in 1984 by best-selling author Louise Hay of You Can Heal Your Life, has been bought by Penguin Random House. The details of the deal, mediated by Oaklins DeSilva+Philips, were not made public.
After the purchase complete, the publisher will “retain its editorial and publishing independence,” under the direction of Reid Tracy, CEO of Hay House, the firms stated in a statement. Furthermore, “no changes are planned” for the staff, management, or Carlsbad, California, New York, and London headquarters of Hay House.
“I am excited to remain at the helm of Hay House in partnership with our incredible team of employees with the added support and resources of Penguin Random House who have been an essential partner through PRHPS for many years,” Tracy said in a statement. Hay House publishes more than 100 titles a year, and boasts a backlist of more than 1,500 titles. It has been a client of Penguin Random House Publisher Services since 2018.
“As we deepen our relationship with Hay House, we are thrilled to support the company’s growth and explore the areas of opportunity in their publishing services,” PRH CEO Nihar Malaviya said in a statement.
One of the most well-known health, wellness, and self-help companies in the world is Hay House, and we are excited to collaborate with Reid and his team to grow their creative and varied product line.
The transaction is the latest in a series of purchases PRH has made this year, starting with the acquisition of Payaway Products in February, which raised its ownership of Sourcebooks to 53% and provided funding for Sourcebooks to acquire the Callisto Media assets.
