On Stanford University’s list of the top 2% of scientists worldwide, 3,500 researchers are from India.
The top 2% of scientists in the world, according to Stanford University, include up to 3,500 researchers from India. The technical institutes included IISc, which has over 120 researchers, IIT Delhi, which has over 90 researchers, IIT Kharagpur, which has over 80, IIT Bombay, which has about 60, and IIT Roorkee, which has over 50.
With a faculty representation of 7.69%, IIM Rohtak has emerged as the top IIM, closely followed by IIM Ahmedabad with 4.81%, IIM Jammu with 4.65%, IIM Lucknow with 4.55%, and IIM Nagpur and IIM Vishakhapatnam with 2.78% and 2.70%, respectively, in the coveted list.
In the instance of JMI, a total of 26 researchers are included in Stanford University’s list of the top 2% of scientists globally. One of the lists, which was based on career-long statistics, and the other, which was based on the performance of researchers in 2022, have both been made public. Seven academics in all, including Ali, Imran Ahsan, Haseeb Ghosh, Sushant G. Rahman, Atiqur Ahmad, Sharif Ahmad, Tokeer Islam, and Tarikul, have been named in both lists. The ‘career’ list included Ali, Imran Ahsan, Haseeb Ghosh, Sushant G. Rahman, Atiqur Sen, Anjan A. Ahmad, Sharif Ahmad, Tokeer Islam, and Tarikul, eight academics.
As part of the ‘single year-2020’ list, the professors include Imran Haleem, Abid Javaid, Mohd Ghosh, Atiqur Ahsan, Haseeb Hassan, Md Imtaiyaz Ahmad, Rafiq Raza, Khalid Khan, Tabrez Alam Ahmad, Sharif Khan, M Ajmal Talukdar, Swapan Ahmad, Tokeer Chaudhry, Saif Ali, Rashid Ahmad, Musheer Siddiquee, Arshad Noor Patel, Rajan Riaz, Ufana Islam, Tarikul Mohammad, Taj Haque, Ahteshamul Khanuja, M Naqvi, Ahmad Abu Turab Anas, S M.
This acknowledgment, according to a JMI press release, is based on a publicly accessible database of over 96,17,763 top scientists, which includes standardised information on citations, h-index, citations to articles in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
