Celebrate hundreds of years of innovation, from “Zero” to “AI,” on National Technology Day: “Technology Heroes” comment
India has a long history of scientific and technological advancement, from the groundbreaking work of Aryabhata and Brahmagupta in antiquity, who shed light on the notion of zero, to the state-of-the-art advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) today. For businesses, innovation is the ideal that propels them forward as they strive for advancement.
In line with this philosophy, India is pleased to be ranked 40th out of 132 economies in the World Intellectual Property Organization’s 2023 Global Innovation Index. This unwavering dedication to innovation highlights India’s continued position as a worldwide leader in science and technology.
The UK Science and Innovation Network summarises that throughout the last ten years, the Indian government has refocused on science and technology (S&T). India is now home to more than 950 tech businesses, solidifying its ranking as the world’s third-largest digital startup ecosystem. There are currently over 31,000 IT firms in the world, including 91 remarkable unicorns that are valued at more than $1 billion USD each.
This year, on May 11, which is National Technology Day in India, we honour the historic 1998 event known as Operation Shakti, which involved the Indian Army conducting a series of nuclear experiments at the Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan. Today is a perfect example of India’s outstanding scientific advancements.
It is evidence of our country’s unwavering dedication to innovation and a step towards a better future. Inspiring the next generation to seek employment in STEM sectors, National Technology Day fanns the sparks of interest and guarantees India’s sustained leadership in science and technology.
India aims to become a developed nation by using technology, and this is the driving force behind its ambitious agenda. This bold endeavour entails a multifaceted approach that weaves together multiple strands of development.
A strong dedication to STEM education, which prepares young people to appreciate the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, is at the core of our project. Concurrently, an environment that is conducive to innovation is fostered, whereby inventiveness thrives and breakthroughs are commemorated as significant steps towards magnificence.
However, the adventure doesn’t end there. An advanced technological society’s backbone is formed by a sturdy infrastructure that is created by the laying of wires, paving of roads, and construction of digital highways. Reforms are made to policies, red tape is removed, and incentives are provided to create a thriving ecosystem that supports entrepreneurship and ignites the flame of technological innovation across the country.
Let us consider the perspectives of the Technology Heroes who have contributed to the innovative transformation of India’s technology scene on this National Technology Day.
