2.79 million degrees are awarded by IGNOU at the 36th Convocation.
In its 36th Convocation, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) conferred 2,79,197 degrees, diplomas, and awards on deserving candidates. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, gave gold medals to deserving students from all classes at the event. 55% of the qualified pupils were female. The President was spotted praising the contributions made by women in a variety of areas, including education. The Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985 was what created IGNOU. (IGNOU Act 1985). Since that time, the institute has played a significant role in helping pupils of all ages receive distance education. Although not everyone can pursue higher education, open colleges like IGNOU offer hope for those who cannot.
During the convocation, President Murmu noted that many pupils have trouble to pursue higher education because of their ‘responsibilities’ and ‘circumstances’.
Such students are receiving assistance in their schooling from institutions like IGNOU. As a result, remote learning has numerous socioeconomic benefits.”The number of students who enrolled in and effectively completed their courses through IGNOU has increased. Distance learning has established itself as the standard following the pandemic. People’s perceptions of distance learning have shifted. It is currently a widely recognised and accepted form of instruction. Open colleges have taken it upon themselves to make education much more adaptable and inclusive, including IGNOU, Netaji Subhas Open University, Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University, and others.
