Akhila Saroha: First of all, congratulations on the publication of your book. How has the audience responded to the book so far? Anugrah Edmonds: Thankyou. Those that have read the book have told that it is an interesting read.

Akhila Saroha: How far did your own experiences inspire the stories you wrote? Anugrah Edmonds: This might sound a little strange but honestly, one of the chapters of the book came to me in a dream, in very vivid details. And I built the remainder of the book around it. It has also been greatly inspired by my own life experiences and those of my friends and clients.

Akhila Saroha: How far did your own experiences inspire the stories you wrote? Anugrah Edmonds: They say we can write only what we know. So yes most of the book has been inspired by my experiences and those close to me.

Akhila Saroha: What are your views about psychology as an evolving genre in the field of writing? Anugrah Edmonds: Oh yes I believe that contemporary writers should take into account the psychological aspect of their characters’ lives and personalities. In my personal opinion most of the literature is actually a reflection of human psychology.

Akhila Saroha: As a psychologist, what is your basic message through the book? Anugrah Edmonds: As I psychologist the one message that I would like to bring home to my readers is that they are not alone in their suffering. Most of humanity shares similar experiences. Also every life is a story and the protagonist has the pen.

Akhila Saroha: How did you decide on the stories you were going to include in the book? Anugrah Edmonds: My target was to include the experiences most relatable to most of the people, and to build around the emotional aspect of those experiences.

Akhila Saroha: How far do you think self help books influence people? Anugrah Edmonds: I have a mixed opinion about self help books. To some readers it might be transformational and to others they might seem too preachy.

Akhila Saroha: How did you decide on the issues you were going to write? Anugrah Edmonds: I owe a lot of the issues I have mentioned to the experiences of my clients in therapy.

Akhila Saroha: Are there any particular authors or books you enjoy reading Anugrah Edmonds: I am thoroughly inspired by the works of Paolo Coelho. I do believe that his very simple words directly touch the soul. They watered my psyche in those years of my life when I was still finding myself.

Akhila Saroha: Would you like to give any advice to budding writers? Anugrah Edmonds: Yes, be yourself when writing. There is no correct of elite way of writing. Your experiences and thoughts are unique, capture those.

Akhila Saroha: Please tell us about your future projects in writing? Anugrah Edmonds: I am coming up with another book in which I am going to write about the experiences of one particular client of mine. I am actually co-authoring it with her. It is going to be cantered around her experience in therapy. Akhila Saroha: What would you like to say about contemporary writing? Anugrah Edmonds: I believe whatever connects with the readers is a good piece of work. Akhila Saroha: Thank you so much for sparing your time and answering the questions. All the best to you. Anugrah Edmonds: Thank you.
