The Yoga Sutra for Kids by Roopa Pai will be available on June 27.
The mysteries of Patanjali’s 2,000-year-old treatise on yoga will be revealed in author Roopa Pai’s new children’s book, which follows her award-winning best-seller “The Gita for Children.” The Hachette India book “The Yoga Sutras for Children” encourages kids to use their mental strength to bring out the best in themselves by relating yoga to their daily life. On June 27, it will go on sale.
The book offers Maharishi Patanjali’s methods to “nurture energies and attitudes, enabling them to do small and big things in a focused and balanced way” and is dotted with “Think” and “Do” parts for a balanced and engaging experience.
“It seemed to me that Patanjali was the best kind of teacher – one who not only had the tools to turn his students into clear-thinking, laser-focused mind-ninjas, but also knew how to inspire and challenge them so that they stayed the course. That’s exactly what I hope the mysterious, mischievous Maharishi P in my book will do for young readers,” said the Bengaluru-based children’s author in a statement.
Sayan Mukherjee’s illustrations in the book, which are all in black and white, encourage young readers to approach their increasingly complicated lives with optimism and self-assurance.
The publishers claim that Pai reveals the mysteries of Patanjali’s condensed, 2,000-year-old text in a way that is both enjoyable and approachable in this “surprising” and “sparkling” book.
Vatsala Kaul Banerjee, publisher (children’s and young adult books) at Hachette India, stated that “the very gifted Roopa Pai brings an ancient classic text close to children, who will be surprised and fascinated by how much it can help them become calmer, clear-headed, and more confident.”
